There’s only 94 days left in the year and I’m stuck wondering where did the time go? Is it really the end of September? It must be because there is pumpkin spice everything everywhere! So what’s left on your personal to-do list and New Year’s resolutions? Did you get everything done you wanted? Do you have 15 pounds left to lose on your 10 pound goal? Are you where you want to be in love, life, and finances?
With such little time left on the calendar, all we can do is pick ONE goal and pour all of our energy into it. I know there may be 3 or 4 items left, but you can still finish the year out strong by choosing the most important task on the list and tackling it. Here’s the game plan so all you need to do is plug in your pieces!
Name the one goal that will make the biggest difference in your life. Example: Lose 15 pounds.
Define what that goal will look and feel like when it is accomplished. Example: I will reach the goal weight of ____, my body will feel strong and healthy, and I will feel more confident about how I look.
Break the goal down into specific and manageable steps. Example: 15 lbs= 5 lbs/month. To accomplish this goal I will set a meal plan on Sundays for the week keeping my carb intake to 60 grams or less, making all of my own meals 6 days a week, and allowing myself one day to eat out when with friends and family. I will walk 30 minutes a day, 4 times each week, and do muscle or core work using my Sworkit app for 10 minutes twice a week.
Track your progress daily/weekly. Example: Step on the scale to note the starting weight. Mark the calendar with meals for the upcoming week and schedule your workouts. Each day, plug in the food and workout info into MyFitnessPal tracker app. Weigh in and tape measure each Sunday to note the progress.
Celebrate each step closer to the goal! Example: Hit a new and lower 10 pound bracket and bought myself a new purse!
Reassess your progress after each month.Example: Closing out October having reached the halfway mark of 8 lbs!
Celebrate the completion of your goal!
I know we all know the steps on how to get there. I also know it’s a matter of motivation and holding yourself accountable. How about this? What if you posted on your social media your goal and also kept a daily picture or video log to show your friends? Too public? Get a friend on board to join you in your challenge! Encourage each other and maybe split some of the work. If you’re doing a weigh goal, you and your accountability buddy can trade off weeks of meal planning. You can talk about what you like and what tasted great, and what meals didn’t match their Pinterest post.
Seriously, life is too short! Live the way that brings joy into your world! Love with all of your heart and do your best with all that you have! It’s time to finish out the year strong and start living the life you love!
